Blue Ocean Events and creating Future Ocean Guardians, because we C.A.R.E.
At Ocean Pledge we developed an ethos called C.A.R.E. Which is built on the premise that our greatest achievements are through Collaboration. That an Action is better than doing nothing. That Response needs to be purposeful. That together all these intentions will enable us to Enjoy the ocean for generations to come.
This year, Ocean Pledge is partnering with the GB SA Longboarding Champs, to create a surf event with a bit of a difference. The event is taking place at Lamberts Bay from 25-29 April 2018.
Ocean Pledge’s Blue Event project aims to eliminate single-use plastic from this year’s S.A. longboard Champs. We have provided guidelines for organisers and have worked closely with vendors to ensure that this is an event devoid of plastic and other pesky culprits that are clogging up our oceans.
Water bottles are one of the worst single-use plastics, yet can easily be replaced or avoided. So we have partnered with Faithful-To-Nature to ensure that each of the judges and contestants get an awesome metal water bottles. These can be filled up with local purified water provided.
It doesn’t stop there.
In the spirit of surfing and based on how much pleasure we derive from the ocean. Ocean Pledge is promoting our ethos of C.A.R.E through the Ocean Guardian Series. We have partnered with Save Our Seas Foundation to provide a fun, educational workshop to a local surfing outreach program.
Ocean pledge believes in providing opportunities for kids because after all, these are our future ocean guardians. These educational sessions on the beach inspire a personal connection with the ocean and are designed to teach kids how their everyday actions impact the marine environment. The program includes kids from elementary to high school and encourages the adoption of best practice behaviours to reduce pollution and become conservation influencers both at home and in their communities. The workshop will take place on the beach on Friday 1pm. Come and join us for some fun.
In order to create a lasting experience and in our attempt to enrich the local communities that lend us their coastline for surfing events, we have collected surf equipment and other goods for the local Christian Surfers Association and the Nikao Project in Lamberts Bay. There will be a hand over of all goods collected and an acknowledgment of the contributors toward the end of the surfing event.
If you still wish to donate something it’s not too late. Email us on firstname.lastname@example.org. We have until Thursday to make a plan…
